Dropping Off Times– “We Hear Your Plea”
September 11th, 2006 by mmckayMany parents have called with concerns about the time spent in the dropoff line at WC in the morning. We have heard your plea and are working towards a solution. We have been watching the number of cars coming through the dropoff lane in the morning. We average about 225 vehicles per morning. We have maxed out at 253 on two mornings this past week. This is a great increase in the number of parents dropping students off from previous years. We understand that the wait time is sometimes long. We are working on a plan to rearrange the position of the bus parking. This will alleviate parents having to stop for incoming buses. We will also be able to extend the dropoff lane to accomodate approximately 15 vehicles at one time.
We ask that you help us in one way…please pull all the way up to the last cone marked “drop off area” before stopping. If the cars in front of you pull up to the sign and stop, then you should stop and let your student out as long as you are in the dropoff area. One may ask, “What is the dropoff area?” Well, that is a good question since we have extended the dropoff zone this year with the traffic cones. The dropoff area includes any section of the traffic lane which has the traffic cones limiting you to one lane. The traffic coned area provides students with a safe walkway–ensuring that cars are not pulling around you to pull through. If we all work with this plan, I think we will find the traffic flow becomes a breeze.
We thank you for your concern and look forward to getting the bus parking moved before the end of this week.

Getting into the parking lot isn’t a problem unless you are coming off of Bridges Street Extenstion. It’s getting out of the parking lot that someone should be looking at.
